Silk Flowers

Hey ladies and gents, I have a quick question.

For those of you who used/are using silk flowers, where did you get them? I've found places online, but I'd really rather go buy them in an actual store where I can look at them and pick out the ones that look best. I looked on Michael's Crafts website and Joann Fabrics website and they only show holiday type flowers, do the stores still have regular flowers? Or do I have to wait until spring to try to find them in stores?

I've only seen seasonal flowers at Michaels..but i didn't really look too hard.

I'm probably getting mine off ebay.

yeah, I'm sure those websites are trustworthy, I'm just kinda OCD and would rather handpick which ones I buy. I guess I could just buy a few extras so that if I dont like a few of them I dont have to use them.

they still have "normal" flowers, but not in as large numbers as the "seasonal" flowers. poke around just after christmas. they should get a new shipment. michaels and joanns are pretty bad about having a limited online selection.

I worked at Michaels not even three weeks ago and they had Holidays AND normal stock silks.

Michaels still has some regular flowers. So as long as you aren't looking for blue roses... not that I'm bitter. :p

lol, nope, I just want red and white roses and some filler greens type stuff, I mean I have plenty of time, the weddings not until forever anyways, I just want to do something productive, and my parents have said they'll pay for the wedding but havent given me a budget yet so I cant actually start the full out planning yet.

Oh, then you'll have no problem. They have PLENTY of red and white roses in behind the poinsettias. Blue roses and cream lilies? Not so much. :p

I feel ya on the blue roses.
*snort* Yeah, Hobby Lobby's much the same. I ended up getting my blue roses at Walmart...and even those weren't THAT great. But I have them surrounded with other roses so it's not so bad.

Re: I feel ya on the blue roses.
I saw them when I was initially browsing in the summer, but when I went to actually buy, not so much. I'm hoping they'll reappear after they clear out the glittery poinsettias. :p

If you have a Hobby Lobby near you, they have a great selection of non-holiday flowers all year 'round.

Hobby Lobby has "real touch" roses that are awesome. They've got...white, greenish white, hot pink, pale pink, lavender, orange, peach/pink two-tone, and red.

I used most all of them and some blue roses from wal*mart for my bouquet and such. if you want I can dig up the pic I have from after I made it. (My wedding's not till July so it's in a box at the moment)

We got ours at Michaels, in the normal stock selection. So yes, there are lots of holiday stocks, but if you can't wait until your colour/style are in season, you should still be able to build beautiful flowers.

I work at Michaels... If that's where you end up going, we (and all other locations) started putting out the Spring stuff (tulips, irises, Gerber daisies, etc.) last week. It will be fully stocked by the end of the month. It sounds like you will find most of what you're looking for in the SBA (standard basic assortment/regular stock) anyway. Good luck!
