Unique Bachelorette Party Ideas

I'm talking to my MOH online and we were discussing bachelorette party ideas. I hadn't really thought about having one and we're not really fly to Vegas or do a bar tour people... Granted, that's fun, but it's not something I enjoy often... So she came up with an awesome idea.

Go to the zoo!

Seriously, I love it. We're both big animal lovers and I haven't been to the zoo in a while. We figure we could hit the zoo and go to a neat restarurant afterwards (where we could get some girly drinks or something too). She's gonna call the local zoo and see if they have backstage tours or something like that too... So exciting! We just have to see when a good time would be for all the girls. :)

Does anyone have any unique bachelorette party plans? Or ideas? Also any unique bachelor party ideas that don't involve strippers or bars? FH isn't really a fan and I'm sure he would enjoy something unique but fun... Example: go karts! :P

Overe here in Edinburgh you can go on a hen/stag night ghost tour round the old medieval streets and vaults and graveyards. Costs about £7 ($14) each and they are very good! Not planning this myself but I think a friend did it for her hen night.

Oooh that sounds like fun! I did a walking ghost tour one time and it was really neat!

Amusement park, treasure hunt? Sorry that's all I've got at 3am :)

We had a wedding weekend in Canada and the night the before the wedding Hubby and I and our friends/weddig party had some drinks, did some dancing and then hit one of the very cool haunted houses in the area. It was very spontaneous to even have a "hens night", but it was perfect!:)

Sports game! I love baseball and we have a Single A team in town. They are usually terrible but the games are so much fun. They do great "group" parties and I think that is what I want to do since I am not into bar hopping or strippers!

We are going bowling. On the girl side of the wedding party only one girl besides me will be 21, my next oldest step-sister (I'm the oldest child of all 6 of the blended/split family), the rest of the girls will be 20, 19, and 12. So we are going bowling, just gonna go out as sisters and go have fun. I'm not sure if the 12 year old will come or not. She's never really met the other 3 girls since she is my fathers daughter, and the other three are from my moms side of the split/blended family

I'm 37 and everyone who will be going is over 21 and we're still going bowling.

I don't think this is very unique, but I want to go to a drag show :)
Apr. 1st, 2008 11:57 am (UTC)
I think thats what I'm doing. We are probably going to Lucky Changs in NYC.
Apr. 1st, 2008 12:01 pm (UTC)
I'm considering this too.

We went there for my friend's bachelorette this summer. It was a good time, though it's a little misleading in the wording. They made it sound like you could go to the upstairs show free afterwards but there was a big commotion and we wound up leaving to drink somewhere else. These pics are from that night if you're interested in what it's like.

If I were having a bachelorette party, I'd want to go to a football game and tailgate. But FH would be incredibly jealous and none of the girls would want to come with. So we're thinking of doing that for the honeymoon instead.

why not combine the bachelor&ette parties into one? FH and I aregoing to be having one party for us both
Apr. 2nd, 2008 01:41 am (UTC)
If we can afford something (our wedding party is broke as well so if we have one it'll be on us) it'll be combined. Probably a backyard BBQ of some sort.
Apr. 1st, 2008 12:13 pm (UTC)
My friends and I went to a neighborhood roller skating rink (primarily with teenagers and little kids) :)

Then we played mini golf, some video games and then went bowling.
Best. Night. Ever!

Things I've done/planned:

1.) Scavenger hunt through town of places significant to life/relationship
2.) Tour through wine country
3.) Backyard Olympics (everybody competed in events including Jeopardy)
4.) Instructional classes at a stripper dance school

Dood, it was awesome. I booked the entire studio with a private instructor. I had cocktails and finger foods set up. The girls came in and kinda looked around like I was nuts. Then ate/drank. We did a floor class, a chair class, and a pole class. By the end of the night, everybody was grinning. The best part was when the instructor put slips of paper with "moves" printed on them into a hat and we all picked them out. We then assembled in a line with the bride in a chair and we each did our moves on her so she got a really long albeit amateur lap dance. It was hysterical! Then I asked the instructor to show us how it was done and the bride got the real deal. SO FUN!

That is awesome as hell.

I had this for my bachelorette and it was a BLAST! Now we want to go back for more lessons!
Apr. 1st, 2008 11:42 pm (UTC)
We're actually probably doing this and then maybe headed to a bar. But it's going to be lots of giddy fun.

Awwww, that sounds fantastic! I love the zoo. Which one are you nearby? One of my fave moments ever was going to see the pandas in D.C.!
Apr. 1st, 2008 05:11 pm (UTC)
Probably the Pittsburgh Zoo (we're kinda spread out, but that's where my parents live and where the wedding is). Unfortunatly they don't have pandas! I did get to see pandas while studying in Japan, tho... They're huge! :P

Our wedding was in San Francisco, so we did a joint hen/stag party when our bridal party members arrived a few days prior to the event. We took them a day-long tour of San Francisco... backroads style. We saw the hot tourist spots without having to worry about lines or anything. Everyone got exercise (lots of walking) and had a blast. We had food and drinks in the evening. Extra bonus: we ended the night with a GIANT sundae shared amongst 11 people. T'was awesome.

I want to go horseback riding.

My MOH is a Disney employee, so myself and one of my BM's are going to fly from Baltimore to Orlando for the weekend and hang out in Disney World. I'm hoping we can drink around the world at Epcot.
Apr. 1st, 2008 01:54 pm (UTC)
If I lived closer, that would be my ideal party! Ah well, it's on the honeymoon list for sure. ;-)
Apr. 1st, 2008 08:49 pm (UTC)
I want to go to Disney SO much for my bachelorette party but I know its way too expensive for everyone (we are all in Jersey/PA)
Apr. 1st, 2008 01:22 pm (UTC)
My friend's bachelorette party consisted of a girly slumber party in a nice hotel suite, Disney movies, coloring books, Girl Scout cookies, and a whole buttload of liquor. :-)
Apr. 1st, 2008 05:12 pm (UTC)
Hahaha! That's so awesome! I would totally do that :P
Apr. 1st, 2008 01:41 pm (UTC)
For one of my friend's bachelor parties, the GMs built him a stripper pole in the basement, attached to the rafters- very stable. With a 5x5 foot stage covered with black marble stick on linoleum. It was awesome. And the gfs of the GM came and danced for the guys- but only going as far as we were comfortable with.

It was so awesome, we did it again for another friend's bachelor and we've since had a guy's night. It also gets played on any time they throw a party.

My sister's bachelorette was a girlie sleepover with porn and ballywood and "Love actually" following her bridal shower.

well, I probably will end up going to a bar, but not just any bar... this bar does Metalsome, live band karaoke :D I fully intend to get up there and ruin Journey's "Don't Stop Believin"
Apr. 1st, 2008 03:59 pm (UTC)
there's a karaoke bar around here where you can rent a private soundproof room....i totally want to do that for my bachelorette party. my first song is going to have to be "white wedding" by billy idol though, haha.

Apr. 1st, 2008 02:59 pm (UTC)
I told my girls I just wanted to sit around wearing corny cheap tiaras, drinking cocktails, and watching robin williams movies.

We went to a fairly unique restaurant in Milwaukee that most of my friends hadn't been to before (Safe House) and then went out to a dueling piano bar and stayed in a hotel. It was fun.

My husband had his friends over that night since I was gone, and they sat around playing video games, poker, and an epic game of Risk. They had a great time.

We’re doing an old-fashioned slumber party! :)

We’re planning on renting a room at the Peninsula hotel in Chicago (I live in the city, but have never stayed at a hotel downtown! Also, no one has an apartment big enough for everyone) & plan on playing games and watching really bad old movies (like Dirty Dancing!). The hotel has a chocolate buffet in the lounge, so we will go downstairs and have that for dinner.

I went back and forth on this for a while, because I really hate the tradition of it being my “last night out.” As if being married=never having fun with friends again. This is ridiculous because a) I am MARRYING my best friend, therefore, LOTS of fun will be had in my marriage ;), and b) my friends all love my fiancé, and we all love to hang out and have fun together. (this is why we seriously considered just having a party at our apartment).

Sounds like fun!

I've always felt the same way about bachelorette parties... I mean, I gave up all the crazy stuff (hitting on random guys in bars or whatever else people do on "normal" bachelorette parties) as soon as we started dating steadily... I suppose that bachelor parties get the worse rap as far as that goes tho... I hadn't even considered it really until my MOH asked. And came up with the zoo! Which is an awesome idea, hehe.
Apr. 1st, 2008 05:26 pm (UTC)
I think we are just going to go out to eat, and then go bowling or something :]
I just want it to be laid back and nothing stupid with all the stupid games and shit, lol.
The zoo is a cool idea!

We're going to Cedar Point, and then crashing at my fiance's house (he lives nearby, whereas I currently live in Indiana) for a silly, girlie sleep-over. He works where a bunch of us went to school, so we're also going to re-visit old haunts, including our favorite bar. :)

Personally, I'd have a blast playing DDR and Guitar Hero, singing Broadway musicals super loud, taking goofy pictures with my camera collection (I'm starting my own photography business) and eating take-out Chinese. I hope to invite all my friends, both male and female (as long as my plans don't interfere with my boy's plans). I just like having fun and feel like I don't need to spend loads of money to have it. As long as I can laugh with my friends, I'll be happy!

My FH's friend had his bachelor party at a campground. They love camping and just decided to make a night of it.
