Progress Post: Approx. 388 days to go

Intro post: here

We've been engaged since January 2 and went full throttle into planning and find ourselves done with pretty much all of the "big" stuff with over a year to go. I'm graduating with my MA next Friday so then I can start my DIY madness.

I like glitter and burlap. Let's go!

The "vision" for this whole thing is rustic chic. I know that's a weird concept to a lot of people (my father for instance) but I'm really sold on it. I have a lot of DIY ideas and a very crafty MOH who is down to help with anything. It's going to require a lot of glitter, burlap, spray paint, tiny plastic farm animals and brown paper but in the end I'm hoping it'll be beautiful. Oh and the colors are grey, yellow and assorted metallic neutrals.

We're getting married here: John H. Pierce House in Lincoln, MA

Bridesmaids are (most likely) wearing:

Groomsmen are wearing (though it's not available to actually see until August):

Bouquet inspiration (florist: The French Bouquet):

Boutenniere inspiration:

Centerpiece inspiration (only with white peonies and several small, glittered/painted farm animals running down the tables):

Cake inspiration (baker: The Bean Counter):
Bottom tier only:

Top 2 tiers:

Bottom&top tier: chocolate cake w/ salted caramel filling
Middle tier: vanilla cake w/ white chocolate filling
All iced in vanilla buttercream and (lightly!) dusted w/ edible glitter.
Plus we'll have a red velvet sheet cake w/ cream cheese icing instead of an additional tier because 4 tiers is too many in my opinion.

Bride shoes (my mom got these for me when we got engaged. I have 13 pairs of TOMS. Not obsessed. Ha.):

I might do heels for the ceremony because I'm 5'4" and all of my BMs are 5'9"+ and my fiance is 6'2" but ehhhhh, comfort is key.

We've also booked a caterer (Tastings), booked a DJ (for super cheap!!) and booked a photographer (Ruth Eileen Photography). I'm sort of obsessed with her. We're doing our engagement pictures on June 23 at the place we met which is a diner/music venue where Mike's band was playing. He slayed me with his sweet bass licks, haha. E-pics are 3 days shy of 2 years since we met so it's pretty cute.

We're planning a Honeymoon in England and France with more England than France over 14 days.

I haven't started dress shopping yet but I probably will by the end of June. I have a million ideas and really need to focus on a few so I don't end up trying on 100 dresses. Neither I or my mother and MOH have the patience for that.

Michael (fiance) is a graphic designer and will be designing our save the dates, invites and other paper goods. He's already working on a monogram for us which I am stupid excited about.

I have a ton more inspiration pictures but this is already verrrrrry long-winded. We have over a year to go and a lot already done so I'm hoping we're in pretty good shape!

dude, i'm loving your whole vision. i'm doing a similar take on "rustic chic" -- i've dubbed it "trust fund hippie garden party." because, you know. if the shoe fits. i'm also in a similar boat in terms of time and tasks; we're getting married 3/2/13 and i'm done with almost everything :)

either way, post moar as it happens, please!

Thanks! I will definitely post more as we go. I'll keep an eye of for yours too! I like how the "trust fund hippie garden party" vibe sounds.

OK, I love the TOMS. I need to get comfy shoes for dancing because my wedding shoes are 5" heels, and I'm getting old and can't hang in heels like I used to be able to anymore. I have the silver glitter TOMS and they're my favorite weekend shoe. Seeing yours makes me feel like I need to get a pair just like them for my wedding.
