Props or Masks?

I'm getting married in October at a theater, and our wedding has a general movies theme.

We thought it would be cool to get some props for people to take pictures with during the reception--things like top hats, lady's hats, canes, boas, mustaches, wigs. We'd also like to get more specific props from movies we love. Phasers, swords, wands, etc. The problem with that is it can get expensive quickly to buy things individually when each prop is $20-30. I've tried looking for prop/costume stores in the area where we could possibly rent things from but I haven't had much luck. In this case there wouldn't be enough props for each guest, there would just be a few cool things for people to pose with.

The other idea we had was to get masks. This site has some really cool masks for example. I figured for the bridal party/immediate family we could get special masks and then just buy in bulk the rest (about 50). The masks could also serve as wedding favors.

The problem with the masks is my parents seem to think that doesn't fit the movie theme; it feels "Mardi Gras" to them. I can kind of see their point of view, but I think any kind of costume can fit the theme (plus the date is just a few days before Halloween).

Here are pictures of the venue: One Two
We'd also like to do ostrich feather centerpieces like this

Do you think either idea sounds better than the other? Or any suggestions on what kind of props we could incorporate?
