Moderator Reminder: Off-Topic Posts

Just a friendly reminder about off-topic posts. This rule is stated in our userinfo, as well as in past mod posts:

We will ask you to delete any post that is off-topic. All discussions must involve wedding planning somehow. You may talk about how wonderful your fiancé is or how nasty your future mother-in-law is, but it must be in relation to wedding planning. Some great communities for the general discussion of in-laws, fiances, and relationships not wedding-planning related: engagedemotions engaged2married, marriage_plans, datinandrelatin, and stuck_with_them. If you want to get advice on weight-loss for your wedding, check out the communities bridal_wls and notafatbride (although you can post weight-loss questions in here, too). weddingplans is for the discussion of wedding planning. Anything not directly related to the actual act of planning a wedding will be considered off-topic. Use your best judgment; if you think it might even remotely be off-topic hide it behind a LJ-cut.

For further clarification, this includes, but is not limited to, rants about your in-laws, discussions about your local weather (unless it has to do with your wedding!), questions about websites and/or programs that we don't have control over, and/or questions about your health. If you want to ask a question about theknot.com's website, ask it on TheKnot.com's Help forum. If you need help with a photo altering program, use their Support Center. If you want to discuss the weather, use your personal LJ or comment on Weather.com's blog (yeah, I had no idea that existed!). If you want to get medical advice, ASK YOUR DOCTOR! Any medical related questions (excluding the general "what should I do to make my face clear/hair shiny/teeth white questions) should discussed with your doctor, not with strangers on the internets. We don't know your past history, what you may/may not be allergic to and we may be giving bad advice, which would totally suck for you.

With 3,300+ members and 40-50 posts a day, this community is too busy to handle the traffic of off-topic posts. As much as I wish we could discuss the things listed above (because I am interested and I want to help people!), we just can't. Please use discretion when making a post and keep the entirety of your posts on-topic. If you make a long wedding planning post but then add in a picture of your fluffy bunny just because it's cute, then I will delete your post.

It's in everyone's best interest if you stay on topic.

If you find yourself typing words similar to "I'm not sure if this fits" or "this is probably not weddingish enough, but...", email the mods and see if it's ok to post it?

Oh, I gotcha. Sorry to disappoint you, but there wasn't any drama. No hissy fits, no "OMG UR A BITCH!" posts/comments, nothing. This is just a friendly reminder. lol

I don't think there's any way to catch ALL the drama- when it does happen, we try to handle it pretty fast before it gets entirely out of hand. And considering your wedding is coming up in 9 days, you're probably not going to be on here as often in the next few weeks. :-)

Awww, thanks! :-) We try hard to make it a welcoming and fun atmosphere for everyone in here. Don't feel as if you have to lurk, though- it's always nice to have more input and involvement from everyone.
