My wedding review

I got married!!!! On June 22nd, I became a Mrs. I wanted to go ahead and post a vendor review, and of course some pictures!

I got married in central Florida, so any brides in the area may be able to use some of my incredible vendors. I could not have been more pleased by my vendors in the least bit. Everyone did a fantastic job.

First of all, my DJ was Eric Hardy of Hardy and Company DJs. They don’t have a website, but the number is (813) 770-2150. He I think is the main guy, but he was just as amazing as he was referred to be. He did all of our special requests, he came and introduced himself to me right after the ceremony since we had never met, and he kept the timeline for the whole reception. He was fabulous; there is nothing more for me to say about him, amazing. I have been to a couple of other weddings since mine, and have come to appreciate my DJ so much. It is important for them to keep the timeline. This is not something that you should have to worry yourself with at all.

My florist was Debra Robertson of DSR Designs. Their website is www.specialatmospheres.com. This lady is sooo nice, and she has really decent prices because she doesn’t have a typical floral shop in a plaza. It is kind of in the middle of no where, but it makes it cheaper, so that worked for me. She did a great job. My two criticisms are that she was difficult to get a hold of at times, and the flowers in my bouquet didn’t look as fresh and nice as I thought they should look. The stephanotis had some black around the edges, but that may be something that is unavoidable.

My caterer was Wine and Roses catering. I had several people tell me that the food was good, so that is what you want to hear. We never did a taste test, and I am a little sad about that now. We had chicken piccata as one of the entrees, and it was not like any chicken piccata that I have ever had. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t what I was expecting. The amount of food was great for the price though. $21.00 a person including appetizers, 2 entrees, salad, 4 sides, rolls, and drinks. Their service was good.

My photographer was Ashley McCormick. Her website is www.AshleyMcCormick.com. She did a phenomenal job with our engagement pictures, and I knew that she would do great on the wedding photos as well. She is very creative, and she has an amazing eye. She is truly talented and I am so thrilled with my photos.

My cake was done by Publix bakery, and it was great. The woman did exactly what I asked, and I had tonsss of compliments on how good it tasted. We didn’t want fondant, so it was all butter cream, and the cake itself was fluffy and moist. I was very impressed. The important thing to remember with them was that they have a book of cakes that they can do, but I brought in a picture of what I wanted. The cakes in the book didn’t amaze me at all, but the baker did exactly what I wanted. I even heard that everyone in the bakery loved my cake too.

Jones Soda did our favors, and they were wonderful to work with. I placed and order, and made a typo. I thought there was no way that they would be able fix it, but I called just to see. A PERSON answered the phone, and told me that the lady that I needed to talk to wasn’t there, but could she have my number so that she could call me back. After the weekend, she did call me back, and they fixed the problem without any issues at all. They were shipped quickly too. Great customer service.

Ok, so here is what went wrong:

~ There were several small decorations that we just forgot about.

~ Some small stuff had to be done the day of, but it wasn’t a big deal

~ Apparently when my grandmother was walking down the aisle during the processional, her pants fell down. Fortunately the groomsman walking with her handled it really well, and offered to take the pressure off her by dropping his pants as well. Oh well, these things happen!

~ After I walked down the aisle to “It had to be You” the sound guy didn’t understand that he should fade the music down so that the ceremony could begin. Even after several prodding nods from the minister, he didn’t get the idea. We stood there through the whole song, awkwardly.

~We chose not to do music during our water ceremony because it is weird to stand there for so long, but I guess it was a little awkward with out the music too. Oh well.

Beyond that everything was fabulous. And no problem was big enough to make the event anything but spectacular. I loved our music choices, even if I didn’t make them until 2 days before hand. Processional, “LOVE” by Nat King Cole, “It had to be You” by Frank Sinatra (it has a really bombastic beginning which I loved for my grand entrance) for when I walked in, and “Everything” by Michael Buble for the Recessional.

Our water ceremony was cool. My dad figured out how to use pool chemical testers to make two containers of pink water turn clear.

We used the “doctor Seuss” wedding vows, and people loved that, it was totally appropriate for us.

I was completely mesmerized the whole day. I realized (as many brides on here will say) that when anyone was telling me that something wasn’t going quite right that I didn’t care. It was too much to worry about silly details.

I think that I am really glad that I had a while to plan. It made it easier to plan all the big stuff and get it out of the way and take a break before I worried about the small details.

I loved the way the reception hall looked. It took lots of help and lots of hours to get it to look the way it did, but it was perfect.

After everything was over, on the way to our hotel, I was so sad that it was truly done. I had been planning and planning, and it was over. Of course I had lots to look forward to on our cruise and everything, but I just couldn’t believe it was over. It was everything that I ever wanted.

Ok, here are some of the friends and family pictures  (Which of course is what you really want to see). I will upload the professional ones as soon as I get the disk next week. OH man, these are huge.  Sorry!

Getting my hair done.

This was the reception hall. We rented the chairs, and you can see the Jones soda on the tables. We rented the columns for the dance floor, and my helpful bridesmaids made all the pom poms that we strung from the walls. I just loved the way that it looked.

Our cake table. I just love it still so much.

Our first dance.

More to come!!!
Happy planning, and congrats to the other newlyweds!

oh, everything looks perfect!!

What did you put on the Jones Soda bottles? I have always wanted to get custom Jones soda - cream soda for me, thanks! - but never have had the money to get a 6-pack done. How much did it cost per guest?

We ordered three shipments. I dont remember what it cost per case. It was a good amount though. One thing that I had to splurge one. We got 3 different flavors, orange cream, cream, and fufu berry (I love cream soda too). We put a different picture on each one and a thank you note on the back of each one.
Thanks, Im glad you like it!

What are the Dr. Suess vows??? They sound awesome!!
Jul. 27th, 2008 12:58 am (UTC)
They go like this (sorry they take up so much space!):

Ryan: With that, I ask you right now-
Will you answer me right now
These questions, as your wedding vow?

Justin and Jennifer: Yes, I will answer you right now
Your questions as my solemn vow
Jennifer: Provided our guests don’t have a cow.

Ryan: Will you love him if he’s rich?
Will you love her in a ditch?
From today until the end of time
Even if his words don’t rhyme?

Justin: I will love her if she’s rich
Jennifer: And I will love him in a ditch
Justin: And I will even love her when she’s being a b…eautiful princess.

Ryan: Will you love him for richer, for poorer
Will you love her for quiet or snorer
From today until the cows come home
And never stop writing goofy poems?

Jennifer: I will love him if he’s poor
Justin: I will love her if she snores
Jennifer: And I will love him when he’s a bore.

Ryan: Will you love with all your heart?
Will you love till death do you part?
Will you have and forever hold
Each others’ hearts ‘till the stars grow cold?

Justin and Jennifer: I will love her/him forever a thousand fold
‘Till death do us part and our blood grow cold
Justin: Or until our brains grow mold.

Ryan: Will you love through good and bad?
Will you love in times happy and sad?

Justin and Jennifer: I will love her/him through good and bad
And in times happy and sad
Jennifer: Cause he’s the best friend I ever had.

Ryan: Will you take him as your mate?
Will you have her as your date?
From this day on and ever more
No matter what your life may have in store?

Justin and Jennifer: I will have her/him as my mate
Starting on this our wedding date.
Jennifer: May as well, as it’s our fate.

Ryan: If you’ll be wed through and through,
Please answer with the words:

Justin and Jennifer: I do!

I love your centerpieces - very similar to what I'd like to do!

I had never heard of these Dr. Seuss wedding vows. I looked them up and I LOVE THEM! I just read them to FH and he seemed to like them too. I don't know if he'll actually go for them, but that would be pretty awesome.

Love the colors, our flowers are mainly hot pink and orange. Great cake, don't need one as ours is ordered but I still saved the pic. I really like the centerpieces and pompoms.

Did you diy your centerpieces? I really like them and centerpieces we are still talking about...yeah, 2 weeks out.
