Progress Post! 500 Days...

Hi WPers!

This is my first post since my intro post, because our wedding is still so far out. But we have booked some things and I have a ton of idea inspiration, so I thought I'd share what's going on!

To recap:
- Jen and Josh
- Wedding date 12/13/14
- Orlando, Fla.
- Colors: Pink, gray, and ivory
- Guests: ~100

Since I wrote the intro post, I've gotten a job (YAY) and have been also taking on a lot of freelance work, so I've been busy as hell. Luckily we've had time to get some of the big stuff out of the way though!

Venue

Highland Manor, Apopka, Fla. (Catered by Historic Dubsdread.)

We're getting married under the big oak tree and having our reception in the main house. There's a super cute little chapel, too, in case of rain. December is a fairly dry month here though, so fingers crossed!

Photographer

Pink Hedgehog Photography. The girl who runs the business, Sam, is super sweet and so talented, and her style fits exactly what we're looking for. Here are a few examples of her work:

DJ

Chuck Johnson. He cam from a recommendation from a friend, and has a gazillion positive reviews on WeddingWire. He's one of the DJs Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings works with. He's super nice and I'm excited for what he'll do for us!

Color scheme

Bride's attire

For the ceremony, something along the lines of Allure 8764:

Similar ones I'm looking at are the:

- Allure 2455
- Allure C155
- Maggie Sottero Carolina
- David's Bridal VW9768

For later in the night/reception, I'm looking at this dress as a possibility. It's the Aisle be There Dress in Lily by Trashy Diva, from ModCloth:

I also LOVE this dress - maybe for the rehearsal dinner or bridal shower? It's ModCloth's Tickling the Ivories dress:

Shoes (heels + flats for reception):

Hairpiece options:

Maids of Honor's/bridesmaids' attire

I have a couple choices picked out. With the first, they'd all be in that same color; second, the bridesmaids would probably have a gray dress (as shown) with pink ribbon and MOHs would have a pink dress with gray ribbon.

Groom's/Best Man's/groomsmen's attire

Not 100% sure yet - I'm still trying to get Josh to agree to a pink tie. :p Maybe something like this?

Ideally he will wear a gray suit, ivory vest, white shirt, and pink tie, pocket square, and/or boutonniere. Not sure how he will stand out from the other guys, but maybe the "vest-only" option for the guys would work nicely.

Flowers

I don't want a ton of flowers. They're expensive, and it's just not a priority for me, so we'll likely just buy bouquets for the MOHs/bridesmaids and myself, petals for the flower girls, and boutonnieres/corsages for Josh, the guys, and our parents and grandparents. Here are some ideas I had:

We're meeting with a couple of florists in a couple weeks. One comes highly recommended and apparently charges a fraction of what most local florists do, so we may have a florist booked very soon.

Centerpieces

Josh is a musician and music lover - his whole family is musical - and I'm a writer/editor who loves to read, so we want to mesh those together somehow. My friend had the idea to stack vintage books surrounded with candles, and maybe tie in some sheets of music either lying around or as the backdrop for our table numbers. DONE. I only really have one inspiration photo right now and it's still not quite what I'm thinking:

I'm also a huge Beauty & the Beast nerd soooo some variation of this may happen:

Who knows what the end product will be. Luckily I have some crafty bridesmaids, and one has extremely willingly taken on the task of helping me design these. Win.

Cake

I can't decide if I want a traditional cake or cupcakes, but either way, something like:

If we end up going with cupcakes, it will be from my favorite cupcake shop, Sweet by Holly (she won Cupcake Wars - twice, I think!). If cake, likely Publix or Anna Cakes, who did my friend's wedding cake.

Favors

Our relationship started with a couple playlists we listened to over and over again, so I thought this would be cool (and cheaper than flash drives):

Honeymoon

We really want to go to Munich and Paris, since his heritage is German and mine is French. We want to spend 10 days and fly back the day after Christmas, spending Christmas Eve and Day in Paris as the last bit of the trip. Germany also has these gorgeous-looking Christmas markets that look so cute and romantic.

We'll see if the bank account allows it though. We're definitely doing a honeymoon fund for our registry - likely through Honeyfund. If anyone has any hotel or activity recommendations for either places, I'd love to hear them!

Aside from booking the Big 3, we've asked our wedding party and they've all said yes. Next thing on the To-Do List is to book our florist and save our butts off.

Thanks for reading! :o) And if you're ever bored, I have a ton of Pinterest boards (scroll to the bottom) related to wedding nonsense.

Aw thank you! :o) I'm still not 100% sure which dress it will be, or even if I won't completely change my mind when I actually go start trying dresses on haha but I'm pretty set on that style!

the first mod-cloth dress is actually a Trashy Diva dress, and they are beautiful, made extremely well and worth the price.
keep in mind Trashy Diva dresses are meant to be fitted to the waist. :)

Ahh you're right! I'm going to add that credit in. I just read that on the description actually and got excited because TD is a New Orleans designer and I'm from New Orleans!

I think I'm OK with that. :o) Thanks for the tip!

Lol don't be, girl. We have zero haggling power and have had to book everything to far in advance. On the one hand it sucks, but I'm glad a lot of the big stuff is out of the way at least. We decided early on there was no way we were going to get married during a Florida summer, so our logic was to pick the first Saturday after Josh's exams were for sure going to be over, and it just happened to be the day. It is pretty cool though. :o)

Aw thanks girl! That's awesome re: the CDs. Did you buy sleeves or make them yourself? We will probably go the buying route because neither one of us is a designer haha. Hoping it's not too expensive. We considered flash drives but errrr yeah, $$$.

That is so funny about your honeymoon! The way it works out has us coming back the day after Christmas so we figured either cut a couple days or spend Christmas in Paris. Naturally we chose the latter. :o) Still not 100% sure we'll be able to do that trip, but I want to so badly.

Oh so we looked into the girl who did your photography and we liked her stuff a lot, but the girl we picked inched her out barely. We just couldn't say no to her prices, and her style was perfect for us!

Thank you so much. ♥ I hope so!
