One-Line Squees

Hey all,

As much as I understand the excitement, I've been getting enough appeals about the one-line squees that I think it's time to say something about this.

I'm going to ask that if you're just reporting the countdown to your wedding with nothing else to say, then please post those to your personal journal. Other one-line squees include "I got my dress!", "The invites are in the mail!", etc. with no other info or context.

We're happy for you and, no, we can't guarantee that everything in here is going to be of interest to everyone, but the level of activity of this community is such that we'd like to try to make sure there's something to read and some minimum potential value to the posts for the consideration of all our members.

i'm amused by the term "one-line squee" :)

Guilty. Sorry!

It was the first real milestone I've had, so I got very excited.

I hear you though and I won't do it again!

I think it's okay that you do as long as you also say something else, like a short update on your progress or some such... =)

Thank you!

A squee stating excitement and showing off a picture is great and helpful, but the other squees are eating up my friends page. You rock!

Also, I love your icon! Beautiful!

Thank you for mentioning this. :)

Thank you! Would it also be possible to remind people that if they post 3+ times a day, it might be better if they saved up all of their questions/concerns for one larger post instead of a bunch of small ones?

Sheesh, these things are getting harder and harder =D =D

There are different schools of thought on posting etiquette... do you make each post a nice neat one-topic package or do you combine things into one so as not to flood or spam the community?

This is even less clear than the one-line squees... I'll talk it over with easter and see what she says. =)

I can see if it gets out of hand, but sometimes people aren't psychic to know that they'll have something to post later on - and if it's been a long time, chances are, nobody will notice an edit.

That's true about editing, but I'm talking more about the people who post 3 times in the span of 5 minutes. OMG, what about this?! OMG, what about that?! Most of them aren't the type of questions that need immediate answers, and if they're having a lot of questions, chances are it wouldn't be too long before they had 2 or 3 to put together into one post.
